For those of you that opt out of the traditional, flowers, candy hearts, and chocolates celebration taking over our lives February 14, Galentine’s Day is a great alternative in which you can celebrate your friendships rather than your romances (or lack thereof). In other words, single or not, Galentine’s Day celebrates you.

So delete those dating apps — your friends are the perfect date for you this year.

And what better way to celebrate your friends than by watching some of the greatest friendship movies of all time and eating those candy hearts? Exactly, I can’t think of one either. (Unless of course, you add wine, then it’s always better).

So for those of you looking for a more light-hearted time, here are 10 films that will be perfect for your Galentine’s day celebration.

1. “Mean Girls

Try to make it through this movie without laughing — I dare you. There’s no better way to start off your celebration than with a female-led comedy that’ll have you rolling on the floor. And we may know every line, but that isn’t going to stop us from watching this one over and over again. Plus, the movie includes Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — a win on both accounts. (As an added bonus, watch “Baby Mama” — just as funny and sure to make a great addition to your party).

2. “Bridesmaids

Another comedy that’s almost impossible not to laugh at, “Bridesmaids” is newer to the bunch, but a classic nonetheless. Melissa McCarthy practically makes any movie she’s involved in, and add SNL alums Kristen Wigg and Maya Rudolph and you can’t contain yourself.

3. “Pitch Perfect

The Barden Bellas teach us a few lessons on sisterhood and what it means to be there for each other — albeit in an offbeat, yet entertaining, way. For an added bonus at your Galentine’s Day celebration, include the sequel, as it’s just as funny with a similar message.

4. “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Still a classic, this film is all about friendship, from start to end. It’s a guilty pleasure film for most of us, and who doesn’t love a cutesy romantic film around Valentine’s Day? It keeps in tone with love but puts friendship above all else, and that’s what makes it such a great pick!

5. “Bride Wars

Sure, it’s about weddings and love, but mostly, it’s about two friends that can overcome any obstacle together. The romantic comedy is hilarious and serious, making it a perfect pick for your Galentine’s Day celebration.

6. “Legally Blonde

Still one of the best movies ever made (arguably, sure), “Legally Blonde” is one of those movies that no female celebration is complete without. It’s funny, it’s endearing, but most of all, it’s empowering in its own ironic and hilarious way.

7. “The Help

Honestly, you can insert literally any Emma Stone film here, but this one is a great pick for a multitude of reasons. It’s another one that tugs at the heartstrings while simultaneously making you laugh. Its feel-good message is great for your Galentine’s Day!

8. “Bring It On

No Galentine’s Day is complete without a little drama, and this film has plenty of it. “Bring It On” is such a classic because it’s a great depiction of what it means to have multiple girls in the same room with strong egos taking over. Hopefully, this doesn’t define you and your group of friends, but even if it does, there’s plenty of humor to go around.

9. “Clueless

An oldie but a goodie, “Clueless” is one of the best adaptations of Jane Austen that exists, and for good reason. It applies so seamlessly, still today, and will continue to apply for years to come. Everyone thinks they can play cupid around Valentine’s Day, but it’s a lot more fun to watch someone else do it than to be involved yourself.

10. “Easy A

Last, but certainly not least, there’s the other Emma Stone film that people are obsessed with: “Easy A.” Again, it’s a great depiction of young love and drama, but one that demonstrates a feel good message that everyone can get behind. And who doesn’t want Penn Badgely riding a lawnmower through their yard with his fist in the air? Exactly.

Galentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about love or whether or not you’re in a relationship — it’s about friendship and having a good time with those that you love, whether romantically or in a friendship.

These films are classics and will without a doubt make your Galentine’s Day celebration one that you’ll want to have over and over again.

So pick a few films, buy yourself enough candy to diminish your sugar cravings for the next year, and invite your closest friends over for a tradition you won’t soon get rid of.

Happy Galentine’s Day ladies! And happy watching!
